No snacks, no treats, no candy ~ Oh, MY! Valentine’s Day in the Classroom

It’s no secret that, when most of us reading this post were younger, we celebrated Valentine’s Day by sending each other paper valentines and shared parties at school filled with candy, chocolate and cupcakes.  Fast forward to today’s celebrations and we have a conundrum facing our schools as so many children are struggling with food allergies and other health conditions negatively affected by these kinds of edible gifts.  Valentine’s Day, among so many other holidays, has had to shift its focus a bit in the classroom, but the question remains, “Can it be done successfully?”  I say, yes! Snow Day Adventures: Making Pretzels with the Boys

I’ve actually been quite surprised at the mild winter we have had here in New England thus far this year (uh-oh….I probably spoke prematurely and will be blamed for the next Nor’Easter).  Nonetheless, we finally saw our first official snow / ice day off this season and the boys could not have been more ecstatic to have been able to stay home from school.  Of course, that begs the question….what does one do with three rambunctious boys on an unexpected day off? Our Family’s End of the Year Adventure: Snow-tubing!

The anticipation in our house had been building the entire year for the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.  The boys walked out of The Force Awakens last January eager to see the next installment as if it were being released a week from then.
