Wow! It felt like 2017 came and went faster than a bolt of lightning! What a year of ups and downs, excitement and adventure this has been. In my mind, it would be an oddity for someone to deny the magic that comes from watching a live, onstage Broadway production. You’re talking talent beyond measure, music that transforms and transports, stories that connect with us face to face. However, is there any love lost when the splendor of a stage production comes to the big screen? Does the audience lose the energy or the sense of being involved in the production when a camera is capturing the action and delivering it to you versus seeing it with your own eyes firsthand?
Give me a second…okay, wait -no…I need one more minute. Does someone have another tissue, please? Wow! I sincerely did not anticipate Walt Disney Picture’s Moana to hit me THAT hard! I know many of my friends had loved the movie and many even blogged about how they were moved by the story-line, but the way this movie impacted me personally had my eyes leaking uncontrollably for at least one-third of the film and for at least three reasons. The anticipation in our house had been building the entire year for the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The boys walked out of The Force Awakens last January eager to see the next installment as if it were being released a week from then.
