So, you’re faced with a tasty decision to make: blue raspberry, cola, cherry, orange, banana, etc. It seems almost impossible to choose just one! Well, that’s the beauty of visiting the new Test Track Cool Wash at Epcot ~ you don’t have to choose just one! You can pick any combination of flavors to create your own unique cup of ice cold deliciousness ~ and that’s exactly what Hubby and I did during our recent date night to Epcot. In fact, we took the time to explore THREE new additions that recently opened on October 1st at one of our favorite Disney Parks.

Welcoming Epcot’s New Additions
Yes, it was date night…another opportunity to scoot away from the house and spend time together. While we do (believe it or not) explore other venues in our surrounding area, we absolutely love our trips over to Epcot. Aside from Disney Springs, this is the park that offers an infinite number of possibilities and scenarios, making each visit together a different experience, a unique story unto itself.
We also love to explore things that are NEW and, on October 1st, Epcot welcomed a FEW new additions to the park. With two new outdoor kitchens (of sorts) to try and a center full of imagination and possibility to stroll through, we knew we had quite an afternoon ahead of us.
So what’s new?
Let’s start with the two new food venues! The Donut Box and Test Track Cool Wash opened up at the beginning of the month and are already a big hit among Guests. Both are located over near Test Track, which is off to the left after you’ve passed Spaceship Earth and reached the center of Future World.
The Donut Box
The Donut Box seems to be Epcot’s answer to the reaction they received with the blueberry croissant donut so many of us enjoyed during the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival earlier this year. I mean, donuts!! I’m not a HUGE fan, but that croissant donut was AH-MAZING!!! At The Donut Box, Guests can choose menu items such as:
- Sweet Corn Fritters with Fresno and Red Pepper Jelly
- Strawberry-dusted Yeast Donut Holes (these look marvelous and I need to get these in my belly!!!)
- Strawberry Smoothie (tree nut warning – this is made with almond milk)
- Central 28 Beer Company Boston Cream Donut Ale
- Black and White Coffee Cocktail garnished with a fresh Yeast Donut with Chocolate Espresso Bean Crumbles.
Hubby and I tried the Black and White Coffee Cocktail and it was fabulous! While it doesn’t advertise that it has alcohol in it ~ the name has “cocktail” in it. So, it’s in there. I’m just glad we shared!! The donut itself was a little more dense than I prefer, but it’s a yeast donut, so I guess that should be expected.
Test Track Cool Wash
Now, let’s chat about the new Test Track Cool Wash!! The actual structure itself has been in place for some time. In fact, I have several pictures of it from over the years and I can remember the mist spraying the boys to keep them cool during our hot summer vacations. It was a great place to cool off in the Florida heat. Now, they’ve taken “cooling off” to a whole new level and created a refreshing beverage location that will satisfy both the sweet tooth and the Coca-Cola enthusiast ~ not to mention provide a nice break from the heat.
Cool Wash is a beverage only venue that allows Guests to create their own unique blend of flavors. There are six flavors from which to choose and then a choice of up to four candy toppings to add, as well.
Hubby and I had a great time reviewing the different combinations, talking to Melis (the amazing cast member you’ll see in the video below) and then creating our own unique sweet treats.
The process is easy.
A Cast Member standing at the entrance to the line will hand you a slip of paper and a pencil. Everyone gets their own. On that sheet, you have two sections. The top section lists the slushie flavors from which you can choose and the bottom section has the candy topping options.
You select any – yes, ANY – combination of flavors and toppings for the same price ($6.00 at the time of this post), hand that to the Cast Member at the register and pay for your order. At that point, you take that slip of paper, walk down the line and hand it to the next Cast Member, who repeats back your order to ensure they have it correct.
Now, these are all non-alcoholic options. However, there are a few pre-designed selections containing alcohol that you can order at the register. These obviously will cost more.
From there, the order slip goes down the line as one Cast Members fills your plastic cone-shaped cup with your combination of slushie flavors and then another one, two or three Cast Members (depending upon the number of candy toppings you selected) will dress your slushie with sweet treats.
The final product is then handed over to you to enjoy!!
FUN NOTE: Both Hubby and I grew up in the 70s and 80s…back in the day when the ice cream truck used to come around on the regular. The shape of the slushie cup reminds us both of a particular option offered on the truck – The Cannonball!! Do you remember that? It was a cone-shaped cup filled with orange or red raspberry sherbet and there was a gumball at the bottom. Oh – that was one of my favorites!!!
When asked if Guests with food allergies could enjoy this sweet treat, the Cast Members available told me that they would simply contact the Chef, who would then come out and discuss options with the Guests. From what I remember at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, I’m pretty sure boba balls have either an egg or nut component to them. However, it may very well be possible for some individuals with certain allergies to enjoy The Test Track Cool Wash. Simply go up, ask and have a very clear, concise and honest conversation with the Chef.
Walt Disney Imagineering Presents The Epcot Experience
The final “new” adventure we took that evening was a jaunt over to the Odyssey Events Pavilion. In times past, this has been a location that has featured festival foods, festival craft beers and merchandise. This year, with all the changes beginning to happen at Epcot, Imagineers decided to utilize the space to create an attraction of its own.
Hubby and I walked over, walked in and were excited just stepping through the doors. At the counter, Guests can still purchase food options, such as popcorn or a variety of other snacks and drinks. In the center, however, where culinary and artistic demonstrations have taken place and merchandise has been sold, stood an inner wall.
Curious Guests (including us) are invited to go beyond that wall and experience a 12-minute, 360° presentation detailing the historic transformation Epcot is in the process of undergoing. Our eyes grew ten times their size as we watched vivid imagery literally encapsulate us, introducing the various attractions and events that are coming for our enjoyment here at Epcot. The colors are vivid, the pictures are mesmerizing and the creativity is captivating. Visiting the Odyssey Events Pavilion during your next trip to Epcot is a MUST. Yes – a MUST!!! I cannot explain it any other way, people. You have to see and experience this for yourself.
What’s New At Epcot – The Epcot Experience – The Journey of Water
But there’s more….
The perimeter of The Epcot Experience is not without its fun and excitement. Hubby and I strolled around the outer circle to find four unique PhotoPass opportunities, samples of future merchandise on display and replicas of upcoming attraction vehicles. The walls are all adorned with large advertisements showcasing attractions, shows and more that will soon become a part of Epcot’s dramatic transformation.
Another Date Night Comes To An End
So, here we are ~ at the end of another magical Disney date. We spent the evening uncovering new things together as a couple and had a blast doing it. Walt Disney Imagineers continue to provide Guests with eye-opening experiences that energize the senses and I, for one, am already beyond intrigued at what seems to be unfolding here.
Now – here’s my question for you. Are you a slushie fan? What about donuts ~ are they on your favorite snack list? Does the idea of catching a glimpse of what is to come excite you? Then I suggest heading over to the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival to try out The Test Track Cool Wash and The Donut Box, as well as take some time to enjoy the mesmerizing beauty of The Epcot Experience. Hubby and I will be heading back there in the near future, so continue to follow our adventures on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook!!
